This Agreement is effective July 1, 2002 and is made between the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey, 65 Bergen Street, Newark, New Jersey 07107 (hereinafter called “the University”) and the Communications Workers of America, AFL-CIO, (hereinafter called “the Union”).
The parties recognize that it is the responsibility of the University to provide high quality educational programs, to encourage the development of new knowledge through research and to provide patient care services to the larger community. This Agreement is intended to contribute to the fulfillment of those responsibilities. UMDNJ and the Union recognize that it is in the best interests of the parties that all dealings between them continue to be characterized by mutual responsibility and respect. To this end, they mutually enter into this Agreement, which sets forth the employment relationship between the University and the staff members subject to this Agreement under applicable State and Federal law.
The parties agree that the Preamble Clause is not subject to the grievance procedure.
